Lady Stangs Shock CSU-Pueblo 59-56

Silver City, NM -- Western New Mexico's women's basketball team knocked off West Division leader CSU-Pueblo, 59-56, Thursday in RMAC hoops action at Drag's Court. The Lady Stangs trailed by as many as 17 points early in the second half before rallying to take their first lead at the 9:42 mark.

WNMU moves to 7-16, 7-11 RMAC, while the CSUP slipped to 15-9, 13-5 RMAC.

Western trailed by 11 at the intermission after shooting a chilly .296 from the floor but responded in the second stanza with .538 to surge ahead of the struggling Thunderwolves. Despite being dominated on the boards 55-29, Western forced 17 turnovers and went 11-of-17 from the line.

Senior Tannesia Manley led the Mustang attack with 19 points while getting help from Ashley Vigil's 14 and Crystal Smith's 10-point efforts.

Pueblo was placed by Mary Rehfeld's 15, while Lindsay Black added 13 in the losing effort.

The Mustangs close out the season Saturday as they face Adams State Saturday afternoon at 1pm in Silver City.
